Originally built by Robert Louis Stevenson, the home had subsequently served as the official home for the head of numerous administrations in Samoa before being restored to reflect the glory, and grandeur of past eras.
The museum contains representations of what is known to be the original furnishings, and its rooms recreated to reflect those in old original photographs.
There are numerous rooms to see throughout this estate, one of the popular rooms being the Library where most of the books on the shelves today, are the same titles R.L.S listed as his personal reading and reference material. The library houses over 400 volumes of first and subsequent editions of Stevensons work, including the display of three rare first editions - Treasure Island, Kidnapped and the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
